Dear Friends,
I’m excited to keeping talking about the experiences and ideas I shared in my Modern Love essay, “Why I Dress (and Act) Like a Man,” and to continue hearing from you. (I so relished all the comments on the piece.)
I’ll be publishing two to three times a month, excerpts from my memoir-in-progress about my experiences as a drag king, updates on my drag king’s adventures, interviews with drag kings around the world and other experts on our subjects (gender, drag, power dynamics in sexuality and relationships), sometimes just a photo or video.
Please keep in mind that this is a new platform for me, so I’ll be winging it until I get my bearings. There will surely be bloopers along the way!
Here’s how it works: Everything will be free for the first six months, with subscriptions at $6/month after that to see select content, though other content will still be free. (If anyone has trouble paying the $6 for whatever reason - including if you live in a different, struggling currency, like the Argentine peso - please let me know at maxine.swann@gmail.com and we’ll work it out.)

Me hace mucha ilusión poder seguir explorando las experiencias e ideas que compartí en mi ensayo para la columna Modern Love [Amor moderno] del New York Times, Why I Dress (and Act) Like a Man [Por qué me visto (y actúo) como hombre], y seguir escuchando sus opiniones. (Me han encantado todos los comentarios que han hecho sobre el artículo y he atisbado fragmentos de historias sobre las que quiero saber más).
Dos o tres veces al mes estaré publicando pasajes de mis memorias en elaboración sobre mis experiencias como drag king, noticias sobre mis aventuras como drag king, entrevistas con drag kings de todo el mundo y otras figuras reconocidas en nuestros temas (género, drag, dinámicas de poder en la sexualidad y las relaciones), o a veces simplemente alguna foto o video.
Ten en cuenta que esta plataforma es nueva para mí, así que iré probando hasta lograr ubicarme. Seguramente habrá metidas de pata sobre la marcha.
La cosa es así: todo será gratis durante los primeros seis meses, y a partir de allí habrá suscripciones a 6 USD/mes para ver contenidos exclusivos, si bien otros contenidos seguirán siendo gratis.
